Chengdu Crowned China Software City
On the 10th China International Software Cooperation Conference opened on Feb. 21, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology granted Chengdu the title 'China Software City'. Chengdu is the third city in China and the first in middle and western China that has won this honor.
Since Jan. 2010, Chengdu launched the work of building 'China Software City'. Software and information service industry has become strategic pillar industry that propels rapid and sustainable development of Chengdu's economy. In 2010, the scale of Chengdu's software and information service industry made historic breakthrough, with prime operating revenue exceeding hundreds of billions yuan. In 2011, software and information service industry gained a YoY growth of 32.95%, with 100-bln yuan software operating revenue, taking up over 5% of the country's total revenue in this aspect and ranking 3rd among 15 sub-provincial cities and 1st in middle and western China.
Since the launching of this work, Chengdu has introduced in more than 140 Fortune 500 IT enterprises or tycoons. Among them, there are 7 key software enterprises of national layout, 6 backbone enterprises of national Torch Plan, 5 listed enterprises and 2 national Top 20 service outsourcing enterprises. A mighty enterprise cluster that industrial development can rely on is formed. In the meantime, great effort is put to promote the application of software and IT in new generation IT industry, such as Internet of things, cloud computing, three-network integration and so on. Burgeoning industries enjoy rapid growth.
