Train cars fall into river in Guanghan, no injuries
Two cars from a passenger train fell into a river in Guanghan when a section of the bridge it was crossing collapsed at around 3 p.m. today.
The Shiting River Daqiao (Bridge) had been weakened by the heavy rains that have been hitting the province this storm season.
The two cars, part of the K156 train from Xi'an to Kunming, were swept 200 meters downstream.
No casualties and only three minor injuries were reported thanks to the conductor's quick action. He detected that the train seemed to be going downhill, and immediately thereafter it derailed. After the train was stopped, all passengers were evacuate and taken to the Guanghan Middle School.
The two cars proceeded to slowly fall into the river.
