Shu Quan Fei Ri(Sichuan dogs bark the sun)
Shu Quan Fei Ri(Sichuan dogs bark the sun), is an interesting idiom to indicate being surprised at something normal and commonly seen, due to one's ignorance. Shu is the simplified name of Sichuan province, Quan is another name of dog, Fei is a verb which means 'bark', while Ri is another name of the sun. A leading writer of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Liu Zongyuan, once used this idiom vividly to indicate how cloudy and foggy in Sichuan Province most of the year. The sun was hardly ever seen. So if the sun came out, the local dogs would feel that something was happening and are frightened by the sunshine, then the dogs will bark loudly for their scary of the sun.
