Lugu Lake,Xichang

Lugu Lake, a national scenic spot, lies on the border of Yanyuan County, Sichuan Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture between Ninglang County, Yunnan Lijiang Region. The shape of the lake looks like a horse hoof with its southern part belonging to Yuannan and its northern part, Sichuan.
Lugu Lake boasts primeval natural beauty, picturesqueness and enchantment known as fairyland. There are six elegant small islands on the limpid lake, each with distinctive shape covered with exuberant grass and trees. The Mosuo people's Pig-Trough boats gliding on the lake add a tinge of spice to the scenery. The lake owns a large number of aquatic species like fish, whelks, clams, frogs and shrimps, each enjoying their life leisurely. Among the species the most amazing fish is Schizothorax (Racoma).
One of the islands has been reputed as 'oriental Hawaii'. Around the lake is 667-hectare-sea of grass. Exuberant float grass and flocks of wild birds form a natural garden for alpine aquatic grass and rare birds. Across the sea of grass, the 300m-long wooden bridge is China's longest man-made wooden bridge.
